Badagry a slave trading port during the infamous trans-Atlantic slave trade era and first mission post during advent of Christian missionaries in Nigeria. Badagry is located along the Atlantic coast about 65 kilometer’s drive west of Lagos at the Benin republic border. On arrival, embark on a historic ‘Slave route’ tour. You will visit old Slave Port and Market Square, Badagry Heritage Museum telling the slave trade story through artifacts and relics once exchanged for lives; Seriki Abbas compound (slave Baracoon) cells where slaves stayed shackled with neck chains and mouth locks for months before embarkation, Mobee Family Slave Trade Relics Museum, ‘’Point of No Return’’ at Gberefu beach (slave embarkation point where captured Africans left for the Americas to meet their fate, First Storey Building in Nigeria, Zangbeto Masquerade shrine, which provides security for the community and ensured discipline, etc. Lunch is at a city restaurant. Return to Lagos after tour.

Tour schedule

  • In the morning, pick up tourists at hotel or designated point in Lagos
  • Drive to Badagry for a duration of 2 hours
  • Visit the museum and other historical sites
  • Drive to a city restaurant for a typical Nigerian lunch
  • In the afternoon, take a boat ride on the Slave Route to Gberefu beach
  • Return to Lagos after tour.
